Community-based Ecotourism

The development of ecotourism initiatives is one of the best alternative economic activities to offer sources of income for local communities. “Ecotourism is travel to fragile, pristine and usually protected areas that strives to be low impact and usually small scale. It helps educate the traveler; provides funds for conservation; directly benefits the economic development and political empowerment of local communities; and fosters respect for different cultures and for human rights” (Martha Honey).

Green Eco-Land offers several services aimed at developing community-based ecotourism, including studies to assess:

  • feasibility and chance of success
  • limits of acceptable changes
  • strategies for the involvement of local communities
  • institutional arrangements and partnerships to secure the success and sustainability of initiatives
